Eid al Adha & Qurbani

Muslims worldwide celebrate Eid al Adha for two to four days (depending upon the nation). However, there are some Sunnah which every Muslim should follow while commemorating this excellent event.

Sunnahs of Eid al Adha as well as Eid Namaz

1- Wake up early in the early morning.

2- Tidy your teeth with Miswak or a brush.

3- Wash.

4- You ought to use your finest clothes on today.

5- Apply scent.

6- Refrain from consuming food before the Eid namaz.

7- State the Takbir of Tashriq in a loud voice while going for Eid prayer.

Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar, Allahu akbar laa ilaaha ill-Allaah, wa Allaahu akbar, Allaah akbar, wa Lillaah il-hamd

(Allah is Most Great, Allaah is most Great, Allah is most Great there is no god but Allaah, Allaah is Most great, Allaah is most great, and to Allaah be praise)

(Irwa Al Ghalil: 3 / 125)

8- Listen to Sermon (Khutba) after offering Eid prayer. (An-Nasai: 1517)

9- Use different ways while going to mosque and returning after offering Eid Prayer. (Sahih Bukhari: 986)

Eid Prayer

The scholars differed worrying the ruling on Eid prayers. Nonetheless, all Muslim ought to go to prayer of both Eids as many scholars, on the basis of strong proof, is of viewpoint that it is Wajib (responsibility). Apart from prayer, the Eid sermon (after Eid Prayer) has also been made an integral part of this celebration and also the prayer.

1- The time for Eid Prayer begins from the moment the sunlight is three meters above the perspective till the sunlight reaches its meridian. However, it is far better to supply the prayer in the early hrs after the sunup. (Abu Dawud: 1135).

2- Eid Prayer is executed without any ‘Iqmah’ or ‘Athan’. [Sahih Muslim: 885 (b)]

3- Eid prayer includes 2 Rak’ at (2 Unit Prayer) throughout which Tabkeer (Allah-u-Akbar) is revealed seven times. (Abu Dawud: 1149).

4- Remainder of the Eid prayer is like other prayer offered daily.

5- After completing the prayer, it is Sunnah (some scholars say that it is Wajib) to listen to the Preaching (Khutbah) after Eid Prayer. One need to stay for Imam’s lecture to end after finishing the Eid Prayer.

After listening to the lecture (khutba), Muslims congratulate each other with introductions such as ‘Eid Mubarak’, ‘Happy Eid, and also عيد مبارك etc. However, the most typical Eid Greeting Muslims like to desire their fellow Muslims with ‘Eid Mubarak’.

All Muslim must go to prayer of both Eids as many scholars, on the basis of solid evidence, is of opinion that it is Wajib (responsibility). Apart from Prayer, the Eid preaching khutba (after Eid Prayer) has actually likewise been made an important part of this celebration as well as the prayer.

Qurbani

The days of Dhul Hijjah as well as the event of Eid al-Adha is just one of one of the most essential periods in the Muslim calendar. Many of us will certainly be arranging Qurbani weeks before Eid, also it is very important that we satisfy this obligation in the right way.

Qurbani is an annual sacrifice of a cattle provided to Allah throughout the days of Eid al-Adha, marking the conclusion of Hajj.

This sacrifice honours the activities of the Prophet Ibrahim (as), when he was prepared to give up his cherished child Isma’il (as) after seeing in a desire that Allah wanted him to do so. Nevertheless, the dream was a test from Allah, and He sent down a ram from heaven to be sacrificed in Isma’il’s (as) location.

By sacrificing an animal annually, we are confirming that we want to concede whatever Allah asks people and to submit to Him entirely.

Qurbani will take place after the Eid prayer on Eid-ul-Adha, from 10th-12th Dhul Hijjah. Every year this date changes according to the Islamic calendar.

Any sacrifice made prior to the Eid prayer is counted as a Sadaqah, not as the mandatory Qurbani; if you do this, you must still perform the Qurbani after Eid prayer.

Kashmir Orphan Relief Trust takes limited Qurbani orders up until the chosen number has been reached and sacrifices the animals over the three days of Eid with full video evidence of the qurbani along with the dua. This year we will be doing 200 large animal sacrifices over 11 major cities in Pakistan and Azad Kashmir.

Qurbani holds huge rewards as this is something the Prophet (saw) did in person and urged his followers to do too.

Most people choose to give Qurbani donations in the days of Dhul Hijjah, yet some will give their Qurbani approximately a month before Eid. As Qurbanis in desired location have limited allocation, we advise that you provide your Qurbani as early as feasible.

The sacrifices will certainly be made after Eid namaz, over the 3 days of Eid.

KORT starts to work for this project 6-7 months prior to Qurbani in order to get the best animals to sacrifice. We travel up and down Azad Kashmir and Pakistan to look for animals in good health and to come up with a great deal with the farmers. We the arrange logistics for the animals to be dropped of in the most needed areas. KORT organize for the butchers to be present on the days and will be fully monitored by our staff and volunteers. Once the animal has been sacrificed it is bagged up un tp 2kg bags and distributed.

Our local helpers and volunteers on the ground come from the areas we assist or liaise with the local councils. This makes them best placed to locate those most in requirement. Prior to Eid-ul-Adha, they are out in their neighbourhoods and local areas trying to find the households that will benefit most from your sacrifice.

So, rest assure that your qurbani will reach people that will benefit and appreciate your donation.

Enjoy this festival by saying thanks to Allah for His blessings and also for providing you the opportunity to carry out this wonderful Sunnah of Prophet Ibrahim (A.S). Do not forget your under-privileged Muslims who don’t have the ways to commemorate this blessed celebration.

Qurbani 2021

Sacrificing of cattle in the way of Allah is a great act of worship. It brings the person offering the sacrifice close of Allah. Abu Hurairah (R.A.) reported that Prophet (S.A.W.) said: “Whoever can afford it [sacrifice], but does not offer a sacrifice, let him not come near our prayer place.” (Ibn Majah: 3123)

Praise be to The Al-Mighty, last year we were able to carry out a record 105 Qurbanis of large animals as part of our Annual Qurbani Project for the poor & needy. Due to the volume of animals involved, the Qurbanis were carried out in 6 different locations across Azad Kashmir. Over 8,000 needy people were given 2kg worth of meat each. Thank you to all our donors who booked their Qurbani through KORT.

Qurbani season is right here! Some of you early risers have already begun investigating where to provide your Qurbani this year, so right here’s an article including whatever you need to recognize about the KORT Qurbani Programme. This consists of where we function, our Qurbani rates as well as whom your Qurbani will be profiting.

Qurbani, or Udhiyah in Arabic, means sacrifice. Every year Muslims around the world slaughter an animal – a goat, a sheep, a cow or a camel – to reflect Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail for the sake of The Al-Mighty.

Sayyiduna Zayd ibn Arqam (radiyallahu ‘anhu) relates that the Companions asked:

‘O Messenger of Allah! What is Udhiyah?’ He replied, ‘It is the Sunnah of your father Ibrahim (‘alayhis salam).’ They asked again, ‘What benefit do we get from it?’ He answered, ‘A reward for every hair (of the sacrificed animal).’ ‘And [what reward is there for animals with] wool, O Messenger of Allah?’ they asked. ‘A reward’, he said, ‘for every fibre of the wool.’

KORT 2021 QURBANI APPEAL NOW CLOSED!

Assalamu Alaykum all, Alhamdulillah we have reached are target for Qurbani this year and the appeal is now closed. JazakAllah and thank you to everyone who has booked their Qurbani with KORT. May Allah accept your Qurbanis and bless you and your families abundantly. Please remember KORT in your duas.

Qurbani understanding

Sacrifice of a animal for Eid al Adha can only be done throughout the defined days i-e After Eid Prayer (10th of Dhul Hijjah) and prior to sunset of 13th Dhul Hijjah. Whoever does not follow these days must recognize that their sacrifice will certainly not be legitimate if it is not offered in between 10th – 13th Dhul Hijjah. A sheep or goat is made use of as a lone offering and is enough for one person whereas a camel or a cow can be shared by seven individuals. The person should try to slaughter the animal with his own hands in order to meet the Sunnah. If one is not able to do so after that he can appoint someone else to do the same on his part yet one must witness his sacrifice.

It is highly urged that the one who intends to offer the Qurbani does not cut their hair or nails, starting from the first day of Dhul Hijjah up till after the sacrifice.

The Prophet (saw) said, ‘When the ten days (of Dhul Hijjah) start, and one of you intends to sacrifice, then let him not cut his hair or his nails’. (Muslim)

At least one third of the meat from the animal must go to people who are poor or in vulnerable situations. Qurbani is mandatory for every Muslim who has reached the age of puberty, and who can afford it.

This year we will be running our Annual Qurbani Project once again and as usual there will be a limited number of slots. This is to ensure that your Qurbani is carried out according to the Shariah Law.

This year, Eid ul Adha 2021 or Bakra Eid 2021 is expected to be commemorated on Tuesday, July 20, 2021. This is the tentative day as the real day rests to the sighting of the moon of Dhul Hijjah, 1442, the 12th and last month of Islamic Calendar.

We advise you to give as very early as feasible, as KORT has a set quota of Qurbanis.

Zakat Reminder

Allhamdullilah another year, another blessed month of Ramadan!

Called the ninth month in the Islamic calendar, it’s that time of the year when Muslims worldwide celebrate this holy month by observing fasts from daybreak to nightfall.

The 5 pillars of Islam include the Shahadah, day-to-day prayers (salah), fasting, charity (Zakat) and expedition (Hajj). It is valuable for Muslims to carry out such obligations particularly throughout the month of Ramadan. The rewards will be piled up Inn Shaa Allah and these will in return, prepare the course to Paradise in the afterlife.

With Ramadan now here, Muslims around the globe are preparing to give our annual Zakat. Calculating your Zakat and getting your head around the fundamentals can be sometimes tough and because of that, we have produced this brief guide. We have actually broken down a few of the most common questions and cleaned up the primary misunderstandings about Zakat.

So, today we are here to talk about Zakat (also referred to as ‘Zakah’). This is the third pillar of Islam and consists of providing of a set amount (2.5%) of your wealth to charity. Muslims pay Zakat as an act of praise, and although it is often related to a tax, it is not like taxes enforced by leaderships. Zakat is a spiritual task, merely for the sake of Allah.

What Zakat means?

The Arabic word ‘Zakat’ indicates ‘to clean’ or ‘purify’ and by accomplishing this religious task, Muslims make sure that their wealth has been cleansed for the will of Allah.

What are the benefits of Zakat?

Zakat has numerous religious and worldly advantages. A Muslims faith (Iman) is that by paying Zakat they are doing Allah’s will and accepting that all of their fortune comes from Allah as a loan – they do not own anything themselves.

By executing Zakat, Muslims understand to work with sincerity and to place less significance on materialistic belongings. Zakat has to do with practicing self-control and freeing oneself from greediness, selfishness and the love of cash.

Who has to pay it?

Every Muslim who has reached the age of puberty, is of sound mind, and you have possessed the minimum amount of wealth (known as Nisab) for one lunar year is required to pay Zakat.

‘You shall observe the Salah and give the obligatory charity (Zakat) and bow down with those who bow down.’ (Qur’an 2:43)

How much Zakat do I need to pay?

Our Prophet Muhammed (saw) has set the Nisab at the rate equal to 87.5 grams of gold or 612.4 grams of silver. Today, this is normally the similar value in your local currency. The value of gold and silver modifications daily, so your Zakat payment will differ a little each year. Scholars recommend that Muslims apply the Nisab value of silver rather than gold, to make sure that more people are eligible for Zakat.

Misunderstandings around carrying out Zakat

Zakat is not:
  • About offering to charity out of generosity.
  • Regular charity – Zakat is separate to everyday charitable offerings (such as sadaqah or sadaqah jariyah), due to the fact that it is an annual spiritual responsibility. Muslims are also expected to contribute to good causes out of personal generosity.
  • A tax. Tax is requirement of nonreligious (non-religious) law.
  • For building mosques.
  • For burying the departed or clearing their debts.
  • All Muslims need to pay their Zakat.

Zakat makes the world a much better place.

If you’re a Muslim, it’s vital that every bit of your donation goes to those who need it most. By contributing to one of KORT’s Zakat eligible projects, we can guarantee that your donation is being utilized to combat hardship and make a change in the lives of the poor and defenceless.

The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months. (Surah Al-Qadr 97:3)

Muslims are recommended to devote their final 10 nights in the month of Ramadan performing different acts of praise consisting of extra sunnah prayers, giving charity, devoting your nights at the masjid, and praying the Quran.

“Search for Laylatul Qadr in the odd nights of the last ten nights of Ramadan.”

 (Sahih Al-Bukhari)

The Night of Power or Declaration (Laylatul Qadr) falls on among the last 10 nights of Ramadan. The specific time and date have been unknown to all Muslims, but we have always been told that it lands on the odd nights (21,23,25,27,29) however rewards for your kind deeds and prayers on this specific night will increase tremendously as said in the Quran.

In Surah al Qadr, ayats 3 to 5, Allah says, “The Night of Power is better than a thousand months. The angels and the Spirit descend therein, by the leave of their Lord, with every command; peace it is until the break of dawn.”

We must understand and realize that it is not about seeking the night but the Master of the night, which is Allah s.w.t. He will bless and reward us as He desires and pleases. We pray to Allah s.w.t. to enable us to reconcile these nights and capture the blessed Laylatul Qadr. Please pray for the staff of  KORT and the volunteers. May Allah bless them and give them the ability to carry on with the amazing work of helping humankind.

Water in Pakistan

It is estimated that only 20% of the population in Pakistan have access to safely managed drinking water, leaving the rest of the 80% deprived and unable to access the same quality of water. The reasons behind this have been found to be due to the water utility services being intermittent due to high leakage, limited supply and insufficient access to power. This is also due to the industrialization of the country, coupled with rapid urbanization and growth in population.

The primary source of contamination within Pakistan’s water is sewage, which is extensively discharged into the water supply, alongside only 5% of the country’s water was being collected and treated successfully along with industrial pollutants contaminating the water and the lack of wastewater collection systems that are imperative to removing these toxins.

The lack of access to clean water also led to up to 40% of the hospital admittance by patients suffering from preventable water related diseases such as Cholera and Hepatitis and leading to being responsible for one-third of deaths.

This has in turn increased the detrimental impact on Pakistan’s health care and economic industries, and as 27% of Pakistan’s total land is under farming and used for agriculture, clean water is imperative to the survival of the country’s population.

The impact on children has been devastating and it is reported that the leading cause of death in infants and children has been due to diarrhoea, a water-borne disease.

As a result, KORT (Kashmir Orphan Relief Trust a non-profit organisation raising orphan children at their purpose built home for orphans) have launched their ‘Clean Water Project’, specifically to counter-act the issues caused by contaminated water within certain areas of Pakistan. Known for their extensive work within Azad Kashmir in helping those in poverty and especially orphaned children, they have identified the great need for clean water in surrounding areas and have begun to provide facilities for communities to access clean drinking water.

KORT have begun constructing and erecting filtration plants within areas that have a high number of children and infants, resulting in ground water being filtered from any faecal matter and chemicals and released via taps as a clean and safe water source. They have also delegated responsibility of each plant to the community that it provides for, resulting in those who use it being educated on the necessities of clean water in Pakistan and creating an accountability for those who will benefit from it.

This in turn will inevitably and eventually prevent infant and child deaths due to water borne diseases and improve the quality of life for the children in these areas. It will also decrease the impact of contaminated water on agriculture and food production in areas where filtration plants are used.

KORT have in so far used funds from reliable sources within the UK and globally, with each filtration plant costing around £5,200 and are in the process of generating even more funds under their ‘Clean Water Project’ which has become increasingly prominent as a fund-raising charity.

It is evident that Pakistan is in great need to secure clean water for the survival of its nation and the children and infants that rely on this basic necessity. KORT have found a viable and cost-effective solution to the unsanitary water conditions within Kashmir which will greatly improve the quality of life and health of those who have access to it and, more importantly,  educate the next generation on the importance of finding solutions to overcome the problems caused by unclean water.
