Wheelchair Project Update
A wheelchair is one of the most commonly used assistive devices to promote mobility and enhance quality of life for people who have difficulties in walking. Wheelchair mobility opens opportunities for wheelchair users to study, work and engage in social activities. In addition to providing mobility, an appropriate wheelchair benefits the physical health and quality of life of the users by helping in reducing common problems such as pressure sores, progression of deformities and improve respiration and digestion.
Through the generosity of our donors and with the support of the local and national government officials in AJK & Pakistan, during September 2020, 100 wheelchairs were distributed in Muzaffarabad, AJK in the presence of the Honourable President of AJK; Sardar Masood Ahmed Khan and Minister of Social Welfare; Madam Noreen Arif. Another 150 wheelchairs were also provided to the deserving people of Islamabad and surrounding areas in the presence of the Honourable Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan; Mr Asad Qaiser.
