During the winter season, individuals in Pakistan & Azad Kashmir face freezing temperature levels, with little or no security. Years of dispute and natural disasters have led thousands of households to reside in makeshift shelters and slums, lots of still residing in the debris of their damaged houses. This makes winter season practically difficult to survive. Winter leaves individuals very vulnerable, and with lots of having little to no access to important fuel for cooking and keeping warm; they are in threat of falling seriously ill.
29.5% of all Pakistanis live listed below the poverty line. Daily life is a struggle; however, the freezing winter season nights are lethal. While Pakistan is understood for its warm summers, the cold weather is ruthless. Temperature levels fall well below zero and parts of the nation face heavy snow and rain. For those living in poverty, winter is a huge battle and lots of fear they will not endure.
Winter in Azad Kashmir brings dropping temperatures, heavy rains, and flooding. Vulnerable households will be not able to stay out of the cold.
For most of us the winter season months are a time, when we put on our warm clothing to brave the colder weather. For millions of others, the same cold weather, and the same winter season weather condition is a concern of survival. A struggle to feed themselves, to keep warm and to keep safe.
