Afghanistan was already among the most difficult locations on earth to be a child. Now, the scenario is desperate.

Dispute, dry spell, and COVID-19 have clashed to produce an unprecedented humanitarian emergency. The numerous thousands of individuals who lost their homes in the battling in current months will struggle to remain safe and warm as a bitter winter method, bringing temperatures as low as -7 ° c.

“Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth”

– Mohammed Ali

Humans have a huge role in life to support one another. This is what makes us ultimately the dominant species, not by how vicious and fearsome we are, but by the relief and aid we offer to others. When we show support for our fellow brethren, we reach the epitome of gratitude for the blessings we have and the brotherhood bond that we hold firmly onto.

Afghanistan is being pushed to the limit during recent times. The country consists of both Afghanis and some tourists who have been trapped and struggling to get back home. The country has had a complete takeover once more, and many are severing ties and trade supplies with the country, out of fear and disagreement, leaving people to rush to the markets and sell off anything and everything to survive.

There are a lot of children in Afghanistan, but little childhood.

– Khaled Hosseini

As we all know, Afghanistan has been under the rule of many dynasty leaders and warriors in the past, and to this day they fall under a watchful glance from Government leaders around the world, labelling them the Graveyard of Empires. Times of peace and harmony came crumbling down as the Soviet Union made an invasion on their turf in 1979, whilst its harvest had brought forth rebels. Children have never experienced the joy of living a carefree life and are always on guard from the planes up above and the landmines down below. Adults are constantly having to comfort and give strength to the younglings. Even they may struggle to recall times when they had without fears lingering in the air.

Some have called Afghanistan ‘the graveyard of empires,’ and it probably is the graveyard of empires.

– James G. Stavridis

World Leaders and Politicians are responding to the situation by offering refuge, coupled with emergency aircrafts that were sent to pick up people trying to get back home. In more recent news, regional powers like Moscow and Russia have declared a seating at a future date with the new rulers and governors of Afghanistan to talk of a peace treaty. This is good news but what of those currently suffering in poverty. Who will tend to them?

“Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them, humanity cannot survive.”
– Dalai Lama

KORT is sending a convoy to Afghanistan to distribute food and relief packs as well as medical supplies that are much needed too.

Follow our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/kortorphansrelieftrust/ and our Instagram page https://www.instagram.com/kortofficial/ for news and updates and see how your donations are helping those in need.

KORT have not launched a separate fundraising appeal for this project as we had surplus Zakat funds from Ramadan 2021 that we wanted to use up thanks to the generosity of our donors. Our policy is always to handle the donations we receive with utmost honesty and transparency, so any leftover funds from previous appeals will always be utilised on the neediest projects before we ask for more funds from our donors.

Thanks to the help of KORT supporters, in 2021, we have raised Zakat & Sadaqah to help thousands of widows & children and their households with humanitarian assistance.
