Qurbani 2021

Sacrificing of cattle in the way of Allah is a great act of worship. It brings the person offering the sacrifice close of Allah. Abu Hurairah (R.A.) reported that Prophet (S.A.W.) said: “Whoever can afford it [sacrifice], but does not offer a sacrifice, let him not come near our prayer place.” (Ibn Majah: 3123)

Praise be to The Al-Mighty, last year we were able to carry out a record 105 Qurbanis of large animals as part of our Annual Qurbani Project for the poor & needy. Due to the volume of animals involved, the Qurbanis were carried out in 6 different locations across Azad Kashmir. Over 8,000 needy people were given 2kg worth of meat each. Thank you to all our donors who booked their Qurbani through KORT.

Qurbani season is right here! Some of you early risers have already begun investigating where to provide your Qurbani this year, so right here’s an article including whatever you need to recognize about the KORT Qurbani Programme. This consists of where we function, our Qurbani rates as well as whom your Qurbani will be profiting.

Qurbani, or Udhiyah in Arabic, means sacrifice. Every year Muslims around the world slaughter an animal – a goat, a sheep, a cow or a camel – to reflect Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail for the sake of The Al-Mighty.

Sayyiduna Zayd ibn Arqam (radiyallahu ‘anhu) relates that the Companions asked:

‘O Messenger of Allah! What is Udhiyah?’ He replied, ‘It is the Sunnah of your father Ibrahim (‘alayhis salam).’ They asked again, ‘What benefit do we get from it?’ He answered, ‘A reward for every hair (of the sacrificed animal).’ ‘And [what reward is there for animals with] wool, O Messenger of Allah?’ they asked. ‘A reward’, he said, ‘for every fibre of the wool.’

KORT 2021 QURBANI APPEAL NOW CLOSED!

Assalamu Alaykum all, Alhamdulillah we have reached are target for Qurbani this year and the appeal is now closed. JazakAllah and thank you to everyone who has booked their Qurbani with KORT. May Allah accept your Qurbanis and bless you and your families abundantly. Please remember KORT in your duas.

Qurbani understanding

Sacrifice of a animal for Eid al Adha can only be done throughout the defined days i-e After Eid Prayer (10th of Dhul Hijjah) and prior to sunset of 13th Dhul Hijjah. Whoever does not follow these days must recognize that their sacrifice will certainly not be legitimate if it is not offered in between 10th – 13th Dhul Hijjah. A sheep or goat is made use of as a lone offering and is enough for one person whereas a camel or a cow can be shared by seven individuals. The person should try to slaughter the animal with his own hands in order to meet the Sunnah. If one is not able to do so after that he can appoint someone else to do the same on his part yet one must witness his sacrifice.

It is highly urged that the one who intends to offer the Qurbani does not cut their hair or nails, starting from the first day of Dhul Hijjah up till after the sacrifice.

The Prophet (saw) said, ‘When the ten days (of Dhul Hijjah) start, and one of you intends to sacrifice, then let him not cut his hair or his nails’. (Muslim)

At least one third of the meat from the animal must go to people who are poor or in vulnerable situations. Qurbani is mandatory for every Muslim who has reached the age of puberty, and who can afford it.

This year we will be running our Annual Qurbani Project once again and as usual there will be a limited number of slots. This is to ensure that your Qurbani is carried out according to the Shariah Law.

This year, Eid ul Adha 2021 or Bakra Eid 2021 is expected to be commemorated on Tuesday, July 20, 2021. This is the tentative day as the real day rests to the sighting of the moon of Dhul Hijjah, 1442, the 12th and last month of Islamic Calendar.

We advise you to give as very early as feasible, as KORT has a set quota of Qurbanis.
