Qurbani 2022 – Appeal Closed

APPEAL CLOSED:

Alhamdulillah, we have reached our target for Qurbani this year and so our appeal is now closed. Jazak-Allah for all those who booked their Qurbani with KORT. May Allah accept your Qurbani and bless you and your family abundantly.

This year we capped our Qurbani at two hundred large animals. We will be conducting the qurbani in various locations in Pakistan and Azad Kashmir. This ensures we can do the Qurbani in the permissible time.

Everyone who donated their qurbani with KORT will receive a video of their sacrifice as proof also how and where the qurbani took place.

Here at KORT we source the healthiest animals, getting worth for money with your contributions whilst appreciating our duty as a Muslim and ensuring your Qurbani reaches those who need it the most, on time.

A Little bit about Qurbani

The practice of Qurbani goes back to the Prophet Ibrahim (AS).

It is a sacred act to honour the custom of the blessed Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and Ismail (AS) and their story of sacrifice and devotion to Allah SWT.

Eid-al-Adha, the festival of sacrifice, it is celebrated during the twelfth month of the Islamic calendar, known as Dhul Hijjah- which translates as ‘Lord of the Expedition’. It is throughout this month that pilgrims travel to Makkah in order to visit the Kaaba. Hajj is performed from the eighth to the twelfth of Dhul Hajj. Eid ul-Adha is commemorated on tenth of Dhul Hajj and is celebrated for 3 days.

Qurbani meat is distributed among the needy and vulnerable across the world. A minimum of one third of the meat from the animal must go to poor or vulnerable people. Traditionally, a Muslim would keep one third of the meat for their family and provide the last third to their neighbours.

Who and how we help

Those who get the Qurbani meat consist of widows, orphaned children, refugees, the vulnerable, and the senior or disabled individuals. For the majority, meat is not part of their regular diet. The Qurbani meat permits some families to consume meat after an entire year. Your Qurbani can supply up to 50 – 70 meals.

When households receive Qurbani meat, it enables them to commemorate Eid with nutritional food in addition to millions of other Muslims across the world.

KORT QURBANI 2021 UPDATE:

“So pray to your Lord and sacrifice [to Him alone].” ( Al-Kawthar 108/2)

Alhamdolilah with the help of Allah swt, KORT managed to do Qurbani in 36 different cities and locations in AZAD KASHMIR and PUNJAB. Over 60,000 people benefited. We thank all our Donors and especially all the KORT team, management and Muskorteers for managing this huge project . May Allah swt accept everyone’s support and

We make it easy for you, by asking for a donation to purchase such animals, that animal then being blessed and sacrificed in the fast and gentle method of our faith, and its meat divided and handed down to the needy and hungry, who too rarely enjoy these foods.

As you can all imagine that Qurbani Project is probably one of the hardest projects to run. This is why KORT always caps the project at a realistic number which we know we can deliver.

We Must Arrange:

  • Heaps of planning months before Qurbani
  • The animals,
  • The logistics of bringing the cattle to us,
  • The logistics to take live cattle to other cities,
  • Organize many butchers in various areas,
  • Refrigerated trucks to distribute and store meat,
  • And many volunteers to help over the 3 days of Eid.
qurbani

So please before you give Qurbani next time ask yourself a question. The Charities that take on unlimited Qurbani’s how do they do it? As a Muslim it is your duty to check where your donation is being spent. The donation you give to KORT is YOUR Amanat with us. We are answerable to you, and we are answerable to Allah. We carry out all our work with this fear and thought in our mind.

Qurbani
To safeguard that the meat for Qurbani is acquired according to Sharia, we ensure the following:
  • That the animal is in good physical shape.
  • The animal is at the minimum age required (at least one year of age).
  • The animal was not stunned during the slaughter process and the meat is of good quality for eating.
  • The Qurbani is held after Eid prayer. (not before)

Every 2kg portion of Qurbani meat is provided safely, and properly, under supervision by our KORT Muskorteers.

Your Qurbani contribution simply surpasses the families who receive meat. Our volunteers ensure that the sacrifice and distribution of meat are done to the greatest requirement, and all meat is sourced locally. In this method, we can create jobs and promote the local economy.

KORT QURBANI

COST Update of KORT QURBANI 2021:

As always KORT is 100% transparent, Alhamdulillah the average cost of each Qurbani animal including logistics etc is £368. This means we have £57 left over from the £425 that was given for each Qurbani. We will be contacting all our Qurbani donors to inform of above and they have an option, either we can refund the £57 or they can donate back to KORT, which we will put towards next year’s Qurbani project.

In 2020 we had money left over and we informed all our donors. All our donors asked us to keep the money and use it in 2021 Qurbani project. Allhamdullilah we purchased 9 animals (this year) with this money and gave Qurbani in the name of the Prophet and his blessed family.

This is Amanat and it’s our obligatory duty to inform our donors.

Thank you to everyone for your support and generosity for KORT.

KORT Qurbani Project 2021

Alhamdulillah KORT has carried out its annual Udhiya/Qurbani project 2021.

‘Udhiya’ is an Arabic term which means ‘sacrificing an animal’, and ‘Qurbani‘ is an Urdu and Persian word derived from the Arabic word ‘Qurban’ which literally means an act performed to seek Allah’s pleasure. It is technically used for the sacrifice of an animal slaughtered for the sake of Allah.

qurbani at KORT

A record 212 cows were sacrificed on behalf of donors and supporters from around the world. This included 9 cows that were sacrificed in the name of our beloved Prophet Muhammed may peace and blessings be upon him from funds that were leftover during our 2020 Qurbani project.

As the prices of animals fluctuate during the Qurbani season, it is difficult to get a final price until the animals have been purchased. Therefore, KORT initially provided an estimated price for the Qurbani project based on general market rates. As KORT were able to purchase the animals at a lower cost, donors were offered a refund or were provided the option to put the balance funds towards the following years Qurbani project when animals would be sacrificed in the name of the Prophet Muhammed may peace and blessings be upon him.

What Does KORT Do With The Meat?

As KORT carries out Qurbani on behalf of oversees donors, the meat is divided into bags weighing 2kg each and distributed among poor and needy families across Azad Kashmir. 2kg meat is enough to feed a family of five persons two good meals.

KORT QURBANI

KORT carries out the Qurbani project with 100% honesty and integrity. Therefore, KORT sacrificed its animals in over 20 different cities/towns across Azad Kashmir including Mirpur (KORT), Dina, Jehlum, Bhimber, Samanhi, Dadyal, Islamghar, Chakswari, Kotli, Nakhyal, Bagh (2 locations), Deerkot, Rawalakot, Trarkhal, Palandri, Haveli, Abbaspur, Hajeera, Muzaffarabad (4 locations), and Leepa Valley.

qurbani
“Say, "Indeed, my prayer, my rites of sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allah , Lord of the worlds.” (Al-'An`am 6/162)

This is to ensure that the animals can be sacrificed correctly, and the meat is provided to the poor and needy in various parts of Azad Kashmir rather than in one single location.

This year’s Qurbani project also took place in very hot weather and so a refrigerated truck was used to store the meat before it was distributed to ensure the meat didn’t go off before it reached the poor families.

Virtues of Udhiya (Qurbani)

Allah Most High Says: ‘So turn in prayer towards your Lord and sacrifice (animals).’ (Qur’an 108:2)

There is nothing dearer to Allah during the days of Udhiya than the sacrificing of animals. The sacrificed animal shall come on the Day of Judgment with its horns, hair, and hooves (to be weighed). The sacrifice is accepted by Allah before the blood reaches the ground. Therefore, Sacrifice with an open and happy heart. (Sunan Tirmidhi and Sunan Ibn Majah)

The Meat and Skin of the Udhiya Animal

It is allowed for the one performing Udhiya/Qurbani to either eat off the meat or give it to whomsoever he pleases, rich or poor, Muslim, or non-Muslim. It is preferable, however, that the meat is divided into three parts: One part for the home, one part for relatives and friends, and one part for the poor and needy.

The meat or skin of the animal cannot be sold or given to an employee or butcher in payment of his labour. It may be given as a gift. The skin of the Udhiya animal can be kept for personal use or given to anyone else for their personal use. If the skin is sold, it is necessary to give the money accrued in charity as Sadaqah.

Thank you to all our donors and supporters for booking your Qurbani with KORT. A massive thank you also to our Muskorteers across Azad Kashmir who gave their time to ensure our Qurbani project was carried out successfully from purchasing the animals and sacrificing, all the way to distributing the meat to deserving needy families.

No Hajj This Year

No Hajj This Year But Zakat Is Also Important As Hajj

2021 Hajj

On the authority of Abdullah, the son of Umar Ibn-Al-Khattab (R.A.), who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.) say: "Islam has been built on five [pillars]: testifying that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, establishing the Salah (Namaz, Prayer), paying the Zakat (obligatory charity), perform the Hajj (pilgrimage to Makah) to the House of Kaaba, and fasting in Ramadan." (Bukhari: 8)

Islam is based on the Five Pillars, which constitute the most important aspects of Muslim practice. Islam teaches that all Muslims have five responsibilities to follow if they are to live a successful and responsible life. These are the Five Pillars:

  • Shahadah
  • Salat or prayer
  • Zakat or charity
  • Swam or fasting
  • Hajj: the pilgrimage to Makah

Muslims consider all these pillars to be very important because they are the foundation of Islam.

Unfortunately, Due to the ongoing epidemic of Corona virus, many of us will be unable to perform Hajj this year. Muslims had a difficult time not attending Friday and Eid prayers in Makah, but this year, applicants to perform the Hajj will be faced with even more disappointment.

The Holy Prophet SAW said:

“(The performance of) the Umrah to the (next) Umrah is expiation for the sins committed between them. And the reward of Hajj Mabrur (Hajj which is accepted by Allah) is nothing except Paradise.” [Bukhari]
Hajj before Covid

For those who are planning for the Hajj this year, its cancellation has probably made them very sad, as Hajj is a lifelong opportunity. Hajj is so expensive that there are always people who cannot afford to perform it, and those who cannot perform it are those who don’t possess the resources. It is true that Islam is not just a religion for the wealthy, therefore there are a number of practices that are equivalent to Hajj. Alhamdulillah! The obligation to perform Hajj cannot be altered by any of these actions. In contrast, there are some deeds that offer similar rewards to Hajj.

Good Deeds Same Reward as Hajj

You can also gain the same rewards for your good deeds as the Hajj by performing the following good deeds

  • Remembering Allah from Fajr to sunrise.
  • Perform wudu then go to the masjid to perform salah
  • Pray the Ishraq prayer after sunrise
  • Go to the masjid to learn or teach
  • Give to Masjid Al-Aqsa
  • Performing Eid prayer
  • Fulfill the needs of your brother or sister

Final Words

You can get a reward equal to Hajj even if you can’t do Hajj due to a corona virus or another issue. The rewards for doing the good deeds mentioned above, especially fulfilling the needs of your brothers and sisters in Ummah and performing Zakat, are equal to Hajj. In this way, the human race is constantly performing Hajj – not in the sense of the rituals of Hajj but simply by seeking Allah in every action.

Zakat reminds us that our wealth is given by Allah, and is cleansed for Him, making sure that we fulfil the obligations of our benefit, which our excess wealth is rearranged to those who are struggling to survive.

We have been delivering Zakat for 15 years that implies we have an incredible amount of experience, resources, and expertise to contact and distribute your Zakat where needed the most.

"There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than in these (ten) days." Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) on the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah

Donate Your Interest

اَللّهُمَّ اِنِّي اَعُوذُ بِكَ مِن الرِّبَا

Allahumma inni a’udhu bika minar riba

O Allah! I seek your protection from interest/usury.

As a basic rule, no true Muslim by his/her totally free choice wishes to invest or transfer his cash in an interest-bearing plan or account.

In western nations, when someone inadvertently gets interest funds, they should not use this quantity for their individual advantage. In this case it is binding upon them to give this amount as sadaqah to the needy who are suitable for zakat. This is not the typical sadaqah which a Muslim provides of his lawful income with an intent to get benefit in the Hereafter. Instead, this sadaqah is implied just for getting rid of off an unlawful and dirty cash, and to eliminate oneself from the concern of an ill-gotten gain.

It should be kept in mind that this quantity is dirty just for the individual who has received it as interest. The poor person who gets it from them as sadaqah can use this amount for their personal benefits.

It was narrated that Jaabir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) cursed the one who consumes ribaa, the one who pays it, the one who writes it down and the two who witness it. He said they are all the same.” (Narrated by Muslim).

In Islam, it is forbidden for Muslims to both get and pay interest (Riba). This indicates Muslims cannot charge interest on financial obligations or money owed. Bank account typically accumulate interest in time which suggests many Muslims unintentionally acquire interest without actively seeking to.

As per the Qur’an, in addition to its being haram for Muslims to charge interest, they cannot invest interest money in a manner that advantages themselves. This indicates if Muslims collect interest through inadvertent ways, they should invest it in such a way that does not supply them with any advantages.

Can You Provide Interest Money to Charity in Islam?

An appropriate way for Muslims to spend Riba is to contribute it to charity. Rewards will not be received for doing so, but by contributing Riba to a charitable cause, your wealth will be cleansed, and you will have disposed of the haram Riba in such a way that does not benefit yourself. For this, you will be rewarded for cleansing yourself of haram.

Can Riba be used as Zakat?

Interest money may be donated to charity; however, it cannot be spent as Zakat. The donor does so out of a spiritual commitment under the 3rd pillar of Islam when Zakat is provided. In addition, when Zakat is provided, the donor can expect to receive a benefit, but an individual who offers Riba to charity ought to do so without intending or expecting to receive a benefit (sawab).

Donate Your Riba Today

If you have accumulated Riba (interest) automatically through your bank, you might donate it to KORT. Your wealth will be cleansed, and we will use your interest cash to assist those most in requirement. Contribute your Riba to KORT today or contact us on 0300 123 7774 to discover out more.
