First Ever Burn Centre in AJK!

A burn injury can be one of the most severe forms of trauma requiring specialised treatment. Due to a lack of burns services in AJK, KORT will be building a specialised Burns Centre in Kotli AJK to meet these intricate needs.

The main objective of this medical service is to deal directly with patients who have suffered severe burns and to offer them complete undivided care and treatment. This is just one of the many ways that KORT is actively assisting in the field of public service.

Azad Kashmir’s first ever Burn Centre will be built by KORT and shall be stationed near the already established DHQ Kotli Hospital. We will ensure that modern equipment will be readily available for them to use.

We hope it will become very useful and an important asset for the public and surrounding areas in need of specialists for treating major burns.

Once the appeal is officially launched, there will be an opportunity to donate Sadaqah, Lillah and Interest donations for this project.

One Big Leap for Charity

Team KORT and the amazing volunteers got together once again this time to take a leap out of a plane to help raise funds towards the KORT hospital.

As promised, a team of brave Muskorteers took part in a skydive on the 23rd of July to raise awareness and funds for the KORT Hospital Project. With perfect weather conditions, all the Muskorteers completed the skydive safely after diving from 15,000 feet.

The Skydive took place at Hibaldstow at an old World War 2 airfield which is situated near Brigg by the A15 in North East Lincolnshire.

The Prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him) said: “When a person dies, all their deeds will seize except three: a form of continuing charity, beneficial knowledge and a child who prays for them.” [Hadith, Muslim]

16 volunteers jumped out of a plane in a tandem skydive which included both men and women, showing patience and bravery, free falling from the sky at 120mph from a height of over 3 miles. All landing safely with a smile on their face and a feeling of accomplishment, their experience was surreal, an experience that can’t be mirrored.

The KORT Hospital Project is the perfect opportunity for us to donate as Sadaqah-e-Jariyah (continuous reward) and build a means of everlasting rewards in the hereafter for ourselves or our loved ones who have departed this temporary world.

Any amount of Sadaqah and Lillah is welcome. As a goodwill gesture for those who donate £1,000 towards this appeal will have a personalised brick tile in theirs or a beloved one’s name installed at the KORT Hospital once built. Also, those who donate £5,400 for a share in a hospital ward shall have theirs or a loved one’s name on a collective plaque which will be installed at the new KORT Hospital.

KORT Qurbani 2022 Project

Praise be to the Almighty, all bookings for Qurbani were delivered successfully feeding thousands of needy people across Azad Kashmir. 210 cows were slaughtered as part of the annual ritual resulting in needy beneficiaries receiving 2kg of meat each to feed their family. Thank you to all our donors for entrusting your Qurbani to be carried out by KORT.

The Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him said “Whoever offers a sacrifice after the (Eid) prayer has completed his rituals (of Eid) and has followed the way of the Muslims.” [Bukhari]

Our Qurbani appeal was closed within 3 days of the launch of the appeal as our target number of animals was achieved. And because we work with a set number of animals, we encouraged our donors to provide the names that the Qurbani was to be done for so the names could be said at the time of slaughter and be captured in a video.

The summer heat posed its own challenges and our teams had to ensure that the meat was stored in refrigerated trucks before being distributed.

Our Qurbani project was carried out in over 20 different locations across Azad Kashmir to ensure the meat if provided to the neediest of families to enjoy.

The cost of the Qurbani animals is estimated a couple of months before purchasing the animals. Most of the time, this results in a better price at the time of buying the animals. Once the final costs are calculated, KORT informs all donors of the surplus amount of funds leftover from their Qurbani and offer a refund or provide the opportunity to donate the funds back to KORT.

We look forward to continue the Qurbani project next year so please remember to follow us on our Social Media Platforms to hear about the launch of the appeal as we will only have a limited number of bookings available before the appeal is closed.

We pray that the Almighty accepts our efforts in fulfilling the people’s sacrificial slaughter, and that it was carried out in a manner that conformed with the Shariah Law, and that He accepts the sacrifice of the entire Ummah. Ameen.

Flood Disaster Relief

URGENT RELIEF FOR FLOOD DISASTER IN PAKISTAN

Whosoever relieves from a believer some grief pertaining to this world, Allah will relieve from him some grief pertaining to the Hereafter.” Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him. (Sunan Muslim)

With YOUR help, KORT will be sending emergency aid to the remaining areas affected by the floods caused by the monsoon rains.

Each food pack will consist of essentials such as rice, flour, assorted lentils, ghee, and other items to feed them for at least 1 month.

A SPECIAL VISIT FROM A SPECIAL PERSON

22nd June 2022

It was an honour to have the former Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan: Mr Asad Qaiser Sahib, to have come specially to visit our second KORT Complex in Swabi, KPK, Pakistan. A group of students from KORT Mirpur were also brought to KORT Swabi to see the new facilities and ongoing construction work.

Some of you may remember our commitment we made back in January 2021: the construction of our second KORT Complex! Praise be to the Almighty, we have been working day and night despite the setbacks due to covid and the rising costs of materials. Construction of the third building is coming along well with the second roof slab being laid down.

We have set a target for completion for early 2023 but we hope that the building will be up and running when the Almighty best sees it fit. We hope to empower the local orphans through knowledge and support them to become independent beings.

After carrying out a wheelchair distribution in Swabi during January 2020, Ch Akhtar Sahib witnessed the lack of facilities for the residents in Alamabad which is what drove them to build this complex.

We would like to thank all our donors for their generous donations and pray that whatever benefit the children and locals reap, the spiritual rewards of that will be yours to keep in the hereafter.

TURNING DISABILITY INTO ABILTY

19th June 2022

TURNING DISABILITY INTO ABILTY & WOMEN EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMME

By the Grace of the Almighty, KORT has again delivered on our two key programmes: ‘Turning Disability into Ability’ and ‘Womens Empowerment’. Team KORT and other prominent figures distributed hundreds of Sewing Machines & hundreds of Wheelchairs, in the Rawalakot district of Poonch, AJK.

Thank you to Mr Hassan Ibrahim (MLA Govt of AJK), Sardar Shazaib Khan (CEO) Gulf Empire, and members of the civil society and media personnel, whom were all at hand to help distribute the items and delivered inspiring and uplifting speeches to the local benefactors.

When a wheelchair is gifted to these blessed people, we don’t just simply hand it over to them. At KORT we believe that a Wheelchair is prone to damage as well as common/major wear and tear. Hence why a wheelchair which has been donated through KORT is a wheelchair for life-meaning all they need to do when their wheelchair needs replacing is to get into contact with KORT and a replacement wheelchair shall be provided by KORT free of charge.

The current cost of a Wheelchair is £65 each and a Sewing Machine is £35 each.

If you put together £100, you can pay for a package of 1 Wheelchair and 1 Sewing Machine for the needy people of Azad Kashmir.

Follow us on our various Social Media Platforms and accompany us on our journey of providing Relief & Aid all over Azad Kashmir and surrounding areas.

Seeking Forgiveness On The Day Of Arafah

The day of Arafah falls on the 9th of Dhul Hijjah1443 AH and will coincide with Friday 8th of July 2022. We ask that everyone engages in plenty of Dhikr and continues to seek the forgiveness of their lord in abundance for ourselves and our loved ones, as our beloved Prophet PBUH mentions that “There is no day on which Allah frees people from the fire more so than on the day of Arafah.” [Muslim]

From amongst the rites of pilgrimage comes the day of Arafah. Here is where the Hujjaj will be standing for long hours in the burning sand under the devastating heat of the sun, praying and supplicating to their lord the Almighty. Those not partaking in Hajj can fast on this day instead as it is said that it “expiates the sins of the past year and the coming year.” [Muslim] This blessed day carries a lot of weight with it as Hajj is not counted if this is missed out. It was on this very day that the following verses were revealed.

"This day I have perfected your religion for you and have accomplished my favour upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion." [Surah al Maa'idah]

This was revealed at a time where Islam was now recognised as a prominent religion and the Muslims as a force to be reckoned with. It declares the completion of Islam as a whole and for many it brought sadness when the realisation came that the prophet’s days are soon coming to an end.

As part of the Dhikr that we are frequenting on this day, we should also try to include the following:

La ilaha illa Allahu, wahdahu laa shareeka lahu, lahul mulku wa lahul hamdu, wa huwa ‘alaa kulli shayy’in qadeer.

La ilaha illa Allah

Allahu Akbar

Alhamdulilla

Subhan Allah

  • لا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له ، له الملك ، وله الحمد ، وهو على كل شيء قدير
  • لا إله إلا الله
  • الله أكبر
  • الحمد لله
  • سبحان الله

We should also try to engage in as much good deeds as possible such as helping at home, reading the Quran and also giving in charity. Don’t forget to donate to KORT during these blessed days to maximise your rewards.

Please remember KORT in your duas.

Fight Poverty with Empowerment

June 2022

Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.
Nelson Mandela

KORT has upheld its promise of ‘Education for All’ and have built not one but another three more schools for the poor families residing in villages within Bagh, Islamghar, and Hajira in Azad Kashmir. These foundations which have been built will serve as a means to eliminate poverty and empower locals with free access to quality education, after all knowledge is power.

KORT with the help of its construction force have built a new Government Boys High School in Kharal Maldialan Abbasian, Bagh, AJK. The inauguration ceremony took place on Sunday 12th June 2022 in the presence of the former Prime Minister of AJK: Sardar Ateeq Ahmed Sahib.

On Wednesday 15th of June 2022, a new Government Girls High School Mawa in Islamgarh was inaugurated before the Chairman of KORT: Ch Akhtar Sahib handed over the keys to the Department of Education, AJK.

The following day, our team then headed out to the Poonch District to inaugurate another primary school called the Government Boys Primary School of Salohi Village Mandhole.

Education in AJK is hugely threatened due to cross-border firing that afflicts those within the LoC areas as both residential homes as well as schools are plummeted to the grounds. As a result, many smaller remote villages and people who have their school buildings flattened to the ground risk growing up in child labour to survive.

KORT have pledged to fulfil a promise that no child in Azad Kashmir shall be deprived of secular education.
A special thank you to our dear Brother Zahir Kassam & family from Malawi, Africa, who has supported us in delivering this project.

Afghanistan earthquake

A destructive earthquake struck eastern Afghanistan on June 21, close to the city of Khost.

Urgent Aid is in need as death toll set to climb on. KORT is appealing for more international aid, as Afghanistan battles to survive with the shattering earthquake in a rocky eastern region that has left more than 1,000 people deceased and many more wounded.

With the war-ravaged country currently traumatized by an economic crisis. The earthquake has now hit areas that were currently experiencing the consequences of severe rain, triggering rockfalls and mudslides that are obstructing rescue attempts. Those attempts continued Thursday 23/06/22 with people digging through debris with their hands in the look for survivors.

The lethal earthquake in Afghanistan's Paktika province has already killed over 1,000 people and hurt at least 1,500 more.

KORT are active in Paktika and neighbouring provinces, where we are providing lifesaving aid in reaction to the continuous starvation crisis. With resources from this appeal, we will be delivering emergency money; life-saving accommodation, fuel and blankets to support families survive the severe Afghan season; food parcels and money for nutrition; access to health care including care for famished children; and water, hygiene and cleanliness services, for tens of thousands of people.

Afghanistan is prone to natural disasters, with around 560 individuals dying every year due to earthquakes, however this one is especially serious and has caused large scale damage in an impoverished and remote province.

This earthquake appears at a time Afghanistan is already kneeling and is suffering one of the greatest humanitarian crises on the planet.

Over 24 million individuals – majority of the Afghan residents – need humanitarian support to stay alive. 95% of people don’t have adequate income to eat and a million children under the age of 5 are at threat of dying over the next 3 months. More than 8 million individuals are on the edge of starvation. Even more, healthcare is challenging to obtain, and thousands have actually left their houses.

We require to act now to save lives. Years of dispute, poverty and the disturbance brought on by the pandemic were already taking their toll on the people of Afghanistan. The current dispute and modification of federal government, paired with the worst drought in 27 years, have tipped the nation over the edge. Economic collapse has sent food rates skyrocketing.
