Give Hope, Save Lives – Our £10,000 KORT Hospital Appeal

Assalamu Alaikum,

We are Waqar Afzal and Saqib Hussain, two friends born and raised in Azad Kashmir, Pakistan. Waqar is originally from Gulpur and has worked as a UK community pharmacist since 2015, while Saqib is from Dudyal and runs his own food business in the UK.

Although we now live in Britain, we have never forgotten our roots or the hardships faced by families back home.

Why This Cause Matters to Us

Having grown up in Azad Kashmir, we have witnessed first-hand the struggles ordinary families face accessing basic necessities such as food, education, healthcare and suitable roads.

For orphans, widows and families with seriously ill children, these challenges can be even more devastating.

At KORT’s Coventry fundraising event on 18 October 2026, CEO Chaudhry Muhammad Akhtar Sahib shared the heartbreaking story of a baby girl abandoned at birth and left by the roadside. KORT rescued her, but she sadly passed away after specialist medical treatment could not be accessed locally in time.

No child should lose their life because essential healthcare is unavailable or unaffordable.

Our Journey and Commitment

Over the years, we have supported small charitable projects across Azad Kashmir and Pakistan, including providing shoes to schoolchildren, distributing food packages, supporting widows and disabled individuals, helping families establish livelihoods and contributing towards clean drinking water.

We mention these efforts only to share our background, not to seek recognition. We know our contributions have been small, but we believe even the smallest act of kindness can mean everything to someone who has nothing left but hope.

Inspired by KORT’s work, we have jointly pledged to raise £10,000 towards its charitable hospital project in Mirpur, which aims to provide free healthcare to underprivileged families.

Alhamdulillah, £1,500 raised – £8,500 remaining!

Giving for the Sake of Allah

Allah says:

“We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude.” — Surah Al-Insan 76:9

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:

“Actions are judged by intentions.” — Sahih al-Bukhari 1

Our intention is not recognition or thanks, but to seek Allah’s pleasure and help those who need it most.

How You Can Help

Whether you donate £10, £50, £100, £500 or more, every contribution matters. You can also involve your family and friends and take ownership of raising an amount together.

For complete transparency, neither of us will handle any donation money. All donations go directly to KORT through our official fundraising page on its website.

KORT operates a 100% donations policy.

Please tick Gift Aid if you are an eligible UK taxpayer, allowing KORT to claim an additional 25p for every £1 donated at no extra cost to you.

Allah reminds us of the multiplied reward of charity in Surah Al-Baqarah 2:261.

Please share our appeal, donate whatever you can, and let us know if you’ve contributed so we can track our progress.

What seems small to us could mean the world to someone whose only possession is hope.

May Allah accept everyone’s generosity as Sadaqah Jariyah. Ameen.

JazakAllah Khair,

Waqar Afzal & Saqib Hussain
