The word “widow” defines a lady whose life partner passes away, she loses not just her husband but, father of her youngsters, the bread winner and also the guardian of her home. Her suffering is emotional along with psychological due to the fact that now she is responsible to earn and bring up the children. Mostly people are not worried about widows and also their hardships but Islam plainly specifies the rights of widow in Quran in addition to in Hadiths.
In Pakistan And Kashmir, widowhood is very tough, especially for women under 40 who lost their husbands early. The women who are living ‘widowhood’ are the most vulnerable individuals in society. No one cares about her life. Unfortunately, such a defenseless and helpless widow is constantly surrounded by spiritual and physical enemies. Numerous daily events in our society are a witness to this bitter truth. This thing is excruciating for widows; therefore, no one can help them. If someone helps them, it also becomes a cause of their pain. They cannot even go out of home for a severe and solid reason.
On the other hand, the good thing about our religion Islam is that it put an end to this oppression and strongly emphasized the widow’s rights and freedom. There is a reward for every Muslim who respects widows and empathizes with them.
Allah motivates the human race by discussing His rewards; consequently, society wants to deal with widows and aiding them to alleviate their problems in life. The one who takes care of a widow amounts to those who fights their whole life in battle for Allah’s word, the factor behind this statement is that people would certainly not feel burden to aid widows yet take it as an obligation and comprehend that if they provide any kind of favour to them, it is the advantage of their very own.
Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) said about widows Expenditure:
The one who takes care of the widows and the poor is like the one who fights in the way of Allah. (Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim)
(Surah 4: Ayah 36)
To protect their rights, their sponsorship must be complete, and to turn away from it is a violation of those rights. Islamic teaching describes a system of life that includes every aspect of our lives. Islam teaches us to help the poor, the orphaned, the needy (widows) and comfort those in need. In numerous hadiths, Allah’s Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) mentions the importance of caring for orphans and the needy. This is something that Allah’s Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to do himself. Orphans and the poor call him master. When he came across a poor and helpless person, his eyes used to get wet.
We provide groceries, clothing, and medicine to widows and orphans at our complex and around Pakistan and Azad Kashmir. Still, we cannot change their lives until our society starts thinking about the future, and they realize the best gifts for daughters are not materialistic items that will perish. Education will not leave their daughters alone in the end but over time will help them. For this purpose, we also built some institutes from which their widows and poor females can learn skills like sewing and handcrafts. We aim to make women, impoverished women, and widows powerful in society. Similarly, vocational centres should also be set up in different parts of Pakistan and Kashmir so that needy and poor widows and orphans can learn other trade skills that will enable them to earn their livelihood.
In the Quran and Hadith, there are numerous references to helping orphans and widows. The opportunity for an orphan or widow to do good should be considered a spoil, only if the motive is to please Allah and not to gain some benefit from it. The reward he will receive will be from Allah Almighty.
