“Slaughter two comparable sheep for a male new born and one sheep for a female new born”.
Similarly, there is another Hadith in Abu Dawood
“Every child is in pledge with Aqeeqah and that should be slaughtered on the seventh day”.
Before performing the Aqeeqah Holy prophet has recommended to shave the head of a newborn and give Sadaqah or charity as well.
