Sadaqah Donation

Sadaqah, implying charity, is the concept of voluntary giving in Islam fi-sabillilah’ -for the cause of Allah. The term stems from the Arabic root word ‘sidq’, which means sincerity. Therefore, offering Sadaqah is thought about an indication of sincere faith.

As Muslims, we believe that providing Sadaqah brings Barakah to our wealth and can even prolong life.

EXAMPLES OF SADAQAH

From a kind word or smile, to a monetary present that saves someone from hardship -any kind deed that assists others can count as Sadaqah. Here are some of the most popular kinds of Sadaqah donation provided to KORT:

To provide care for poor patients.

WHEN TO GIVE SADAQAH

Sadaqah can be provided at any time, for any reason at all. You might wish to provide Sadaqah to mark or bring blessings to unique events such as a wedding, birth, or other important milestone. On these occasions, Muslims give Sadaqah as an indication of appreciation to Allah (SWT). Sadaqah can likewise be offered in times of unhappiness, illness, and bereavement, or even on behalf of others, living or deceased. Regardless of your motivation, what counts when giving Sadaqah is genuineness and seeking the enjoyment of Allah (SWT). And keep in mind, offering Sadaqah does not reduce your wealth. Provide kindly and without worry!

Muslims comprehend that the best charity is offered in private. You can give Sadaqah online through KORT easily and discretely at any time.

WHAT IS SADAQAH JARIYAH?

AQEEQAH AND ISLAM

WHAT IS AQEEQAH?

The word Aqeeqah refers to that animal which is slaughtered on the seventh day upon the birth of a child. Aqeeqah is a way of showing gratitude and being thankful to Allah for blessing us with a child. The practice of Aqeeqah is encouraged in Islam. This is understood from a hadith narrated by Ibn Abbas (RA) that the Prophet (peace be upon him) carried out the Aqeeqah of Hassan (RA) and Hussain (RA) by slaughtering one ram each in their names.

RULINGS OF AQEEQAH?

According to narrations in the books of hadeeth, the scholars of Islam have mentioned the following rulings regarding Aqeeqah:

  • 2 goats should be sacrificed in the child’s name if the child is a boy.
  • 1 goat should be sacrificed in the child’s name if the child is a girl.
  • The hair of the newborn child must be shaved.
  • Saffron should be applied to the newborn child’s head.
  • It is Sunnah to give charity on the amount of the weight of the child’s hair equivalent to the value of silver. (i.e., if a child’s shaved hair weighed 5 grams, it is Sunnah to give the value of 5 grams worth of silver to charity as Sadaqah)
  • The child should be named by the seventh day.
  • All the laws pertaining to Qurbani relating to the animal will apply to Aqeeqah.
  • If for some reason only one animal is slaughtered on behalf of a boy then the Aqeeqah would be completed.
  • There are no restrictions as to how the meat of the animal should be used i.e., the person can keep it for himself, feed his family, or share it amongst the poor and needy.

WHAT DAY SHOULD AQEEQAH BE DONE?

The preferred day to slaughter an animal would be on the seventh day after the birth of the child. If for any circumstance someone forgot to do so, then he can do it on the following seventh day and so on (14th, 21st, 28th day). Although it is preferable to perform the Aqeeqah on the seventh day after the child is born, there is no harm in performing it before the seventh day or later.

Not everyone is fortunate to have children. Many couples try for years yet have no children. So, if you have been given the gift of a child from Allah, be grateful, and perform the Aqeeqah for the pleasure of Allah. May Allah accept everyone’s Aqeeqah and raise their children on deen and May Allah make our children follow the Sunnah of our Beloved Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him). Ameen!

Sadaqah Jariyah

Allah invites us to this very specific investment through Sadaqah Jariyah. One of the most fantastic concepts in Islam is Sadaqah Jariyah. Sadaqah Jariyah is merely a one-time financial investment with repeating advantages and benefits. It is a one-off charity but with repeating and continuous reward. It is this type of Sadaqah which the Prophet (PBUH) stated will continuously benefit an individual even after their death. The Prophet (PBUH) said:

When a person dies, all their deeds end except 3:
a continuing charity, valuable knowledge and a child who prays for them,
(Hadith, Muslim).

Muslims are eager to offer charity which will continue to have the advantage to individuals after their death and continue to earn them a reward.

Any charity which continues to have positive results on an individual or community in the long-lasting can be thought about a Sadaqah Jariyah. Some examples consist of:

  • Building medical facilities, homes, and schools.
  • Setting up long lasting water
  • Cultivating crops which supplies food for several years to come.
  • Helping households begin a company which continues generating revenue for future generations.
  • Building a location to praise Allah.

In truth, we are encouraged in the Sunnah and from the practices of the Sahabah to consider Sadaqah Jariyah.

Sad ibn Abi Waqqas sought permission to donate his estate in charity, he was offered an allowance to do so, up to one-third of his estate. When a Muslim pass away, two-thirds are fixed for the needs of his inheritors.

These two-thirds are left behind for the worldly needs of others. Nevertheless, one-third is for us which we can take with us in the next life to help us for eternity.

This can take place through offering one third into Sadaqah Jariyah.
The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed [of grain] which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies [His reward] for whom He wills. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing.
[Qur’an 2:261]

This verse artistically narrates the multiplicity of reward for giving Sadaqah. Providing a single pound in Sadaqah draws numerous rewards. In truth, the impact of Sadaqah has favourable ramifications on the recipient as that pound travels through the system for the advantage of others. Also, this verse tells us that whatever we offer, has the possible to increase seven hundred times. That indicates the return on investment is 700%!

We should constantly try to find more opportunities and moments to get more benefit and the pleasure of Allah. Whatever we do now, will most surely benefit us in the Hereafter, and be a method to bless us in this world.

MUSLIM CHARITY

A Muslim believes that nothing in this life belongs to him/her and that everything will perish one day, even our bodies. We also believe that everything belongs to Allah. A Muslim also believes that on the day of judgement everyone will be questioned about how they spent their lives and how they spent their time as well as how they spent their wealth.

Allah mentions in the holy Quran:

“You will never attain closeness to Allah until you spend of what you cherish, and whatever you spend on anything, Allah indeed knows it.” – Quran 3:92

Allah also mentions in the holy Quran:

The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of God is as a grain of seed which grows seven spikes, in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies the reward for whoever He wishes, for Allah is all-Encompassing and knowing. –Quran 2:261

Muslim charity, which is also known as Zakat or Sadaqah in Arabic is the third of the five Pillars of Islam and a fundamental teaching. Giving charity and taking care of the fragile and poor are vital aspects of the Muslim character. Charity is so important that it comes after the declaration of faith (Shahada) and prayer (Salah).

Prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him said):

“When a person dies, all their deeds end but three: a ongoing charity, knowledge which has benefit and a child who prays for them.” (Muslim).

From this we understand that after we die and we leave this world, the only things that will be counted and continue to benefit our souls will be our charity that we gave in this world e.g., building a well or water facilities for the use of people and animals, building a Mosque, a School, an orphanage, or a house for a needy family.

For a Muslim, charity is something that will increase in their book of deeds after their demise.

Wealth is a type of Amanah (trust) from Allah. We shouldn’t think that wealth is our right and only achieved through our hard efforts and sacrifices alone. Wealth is a test from Allah and the longer a person holds onto wealth and fails to share it with the needy, the harder it may become to part with that hoarded wealth. Hiding away one’s wealth and depriving the needy of kindness will not only come back to haunt the greedy, but their misfortune will increase, and they will be led down a misguided path. Let us save ourselves from any wrongdoing and donate to a Muslim charity today.

Our Beloved Prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him said):

“Stay away from doing unfairness to others, on the Judgment Day, it will turn into many darkness, and safeguard yourself against selfishness, for it ruined those who were before you. Prompted them to murder and treating the unlawful as lawful.” (Muslim)

So, remember that the poor and needy are all entitled to a portion of our wealth, and is our right as a Muslims to help them. Even if its £1 or £1,000, in the eyes of Allah it is the sincerity that counts and not the amount.

We ask Allah to grant us sincerity, grant us abundant wealth so we can spend in his path and take away greed out of our hearts. Ameen.

Upcoming Events 21/22

Great news! KORT once again will be hosting their yearly events for 2021/2022

Events for a charity organisation are very important as it gives the charity a chance to show people what they are working on and what they have achieved thus far. A lot of people donate money towards different causes to various charities across the world to help the people in need. Sometimes hosting an event gives the public a bit more confidence in the charity as they get to meet the personnel of the charity face to face and also have a one-to-one conversation about projects and appeals rather than just sending out newsletters and articles to Donors.

A charity event serves two purposes: to raise awareness for a specific cause and raise cash. People by nature are very charitable and want to offer to KORT to make a difference.

KORT likes to explain what we do as a charity and how we are affecting lives.

As it is a tradition of KORT, on a yearly basis KORT hosts several events across the country to show to their donors what they have worked on in the current year as well as any future projects they are working towards. It gives KORT, as a charity a chance to meet their donors face to face as well as answer any questions that the donors may have.

Supporting Humanity in Need – Afghanistan

Afghanistan was already among the most difficult locations on earth to be a child. Now, the scenario is desperate.

Dispute, dry spell, and COVID-19 have clashed to produce an unprecedented humanitarian emergency. The numerous thousands of individuals who lost their homes in the battling in current months will struggle to remain safe and warm as a bitter winter method, bringing temperatures as low as -7 ° c.

“Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth”
– Mohammed Ali

Humans have a huge role in life to support one another. This is what makes us ultimately the dominant species, not by how vicious and fearsome we are, but by the relief and aid we offer to others. When we show support for our fellow brethren, we reach the epitome of gratitude for the blessings we have and the brotherhood bond that we hold firmly onto.

Afghanistan is being pushed to the limit during recent times. The country consists of both Afghanis and some tourists who have been trapped and struggling to get back home. The country has had a complete takeover once more, and many are severing ties and trade supplies with the country, out of fear and disagreement, leaving people to rush to the markets and sell off anything and everything to survive.

There are a lot of children in Afghanistan, but little childhood.
- Khaled Hosseini

As we all know, Afghanistan has been under the rule of many dynasty leaders and warriors in the past, and to this day they fall under a watchful glance from Government leaders around the world, labelling them the Graveyard of Empires. Times of peace and harmony came crumbling down as the Soviet Union made an invasion on their turf in 1979, whilst its harvest had brought forth rebels. Children have never experienced the joy of living a carefree life and are always on guard from the planes up above and the landmines down below. Adults are constantly having to comfort and give strength to the younglings. Even they may struggle to recall times when they had without fears lingering in the air.

Some have called Afghanistan 'the graveyard of empires,' and it probably is the graveyard of empires.
- James G. Stavridis

World Leaders and Politicians are responding to the situation by offering refuge, coupled with emergency aircrafts that were sent to pick up people trying to get back home. In more recent news, regional powers like Moscow and Russia have declared a seating at a future date with the new rulers and governors of Afghanistan to talk of a peace treaty. This is good news but what of those currently suffering in poverty. Who will tend to them?

“Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them, humanity cannot survive.”
– Dalai Lama

KORT is sending a convoy to Afghanistan to distribute food and relief packs as well as medical supplies that are much needed too.

Follow our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/kortorphansrelieftrust/ and our Instagram page https://www.instagram.com/kortofficial/ for news and updates and see how your donations are helping those in need.

KORT have not launched a separate fundraising appeal for this project as we had surplus Zakat funds from Ramadan 2021 that we wanted to use up thanks to the generosity of our donors. Our policy is always to handle the donations we receive with utmost honesty and transparency, so any leftover funds from previous appeals will always be utilised on the neediest projects before we ask for more funds from our donors.

Thanks to the help of KORT supporters, in 2021, we have raised Zakat & Sadaqah to help thousands of widows & children and their households with humanitarian assistance.

Rabi-ul-Awal

The month of Rabi ul Awal 2021 is expected to start on Thursday, October 7, 2021 or Friday, October 8, 2021 and 12th Rabi ul Awal 2021 or Eid Milad un Nabi 2021 will tentatively be observed on 18th or 19th of October, 2021. However, exact date of Rabi ul Awal 2021 depends on your location and sighting of the Moon of Rabi ul Awal.

“And We have sent you (O Muhammad S.A.W.) not but as a mercy for the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists).” (Surah Anbiya 21:107)

the masjid in Madina

Rabi-ul-Awwal is the third month of the Islamic calendar. This is the blessed month of human history in which Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was born.  Rabi-Ul-Awwal is an important festival in Islam and the Muslim Ummah is honoured with the birth of Mohammad (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) in the third month of the Islamic calendar on this day. Almost all mosques, house and businesses display green colour pennants because it is the colour the Prophet (SAWW) liked the most. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is believed to have chosen the green colour for the Islam flag at that time.

“Indeed in the Messenger of Allah (Muhammad S.A.W.) you have a good example to follow for him who hopes in (the Meeting with) Allah and the Last Day and remembers Allah much.” (Surah Ahzab 33:21)

The prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught us important traits such as tolerance, generosity, love, forgiveness, and peace through the practices he modeled. The way he lived was a true reflection of what Islam stood for. On Rabi Ul Awwal, a public holiday is declared (In Muslim Countries) every year, thus the offices are closed and marches and rallies throughout the country take place. In all Muslim countries, Eid Milad al-Nabi celebrations take place, but the celebration varies according to location.  There are three main different ways to celebrate the holy prophet SAW.

  • Fast Sunnah days
  • Increase your salutations upon the Prophet (saw)
  • Give charity

How To Celebrate The Birth Of The Prophet By Giving Charity?

We should spend our wealth for the sake of Allah as a means of expressing our gratitude towards Him and preparing for the Hereafter. It is considered great charity in Islam to give a drop of water. Our holy Prophet (saw) loved a few projects, which you can support in order to earn as many blessings as possible.

Many of us hold events at home in Rabi Ul Awal to celebrate the Birth of the Best of Creation. But imagine celebrating this blessed festive month in the best way possible by celebrating it with what was most dear to the Prophet Of Allah, Orphans! It costs KORT on average £275 to feed 400 Orphans each meal. Why not donate that to KORT and celebrate with the innocent children of Azad Kashmir and Pakistan.

Give Orphans Funds

A wonderful and important type of charity is to provide funds for orphans. You will receive a huge reward from Allah for doing this.

The Prophet (saw) said:
‘I and the one who cares for an orphan will be together in Paradise like this, and he (saw) held his two fingers together to illustrate. [Bukhari]

Water Fund

Islam gives a great deal of importance to donating water. The Messenger of Allah (saw) was asked, ‘Which charity is best?’ He replied, ‘(Providing) water’. [Abu Dawud]

Donate A Wheelchair

Think Of a life of being limited to your room, reliant on others to move you even short distances?

Your donation will bring the happiness and pleasure of mobility and freedom to disabled and elderly people, by providing them with a wheelchair. This will be a form of Sadqah Jaariya.

Donate Where Most Needed

Islam is not a confined religion, it is a religion of freedom, of humanity.  It gives us freedom. If there is someone more in need of help, please consider donating to them.

Final Words

Thus, the best way to celebrate the blessed Month of Rabi-ul-Awwal is by fasting Sunnah days, increasing your salutations to the Prophet (saw), and giving charity. You can build these Sunnah habits as soon as possible. Identify your strengths and weaknesses and set goals for yourself!

‘Whoever guides someone to goodness will have a reward like one who did it’. [Muslim]

Making Invocations Upon the Prophet PBUH

“Whoever sends blessings upon me once, Allah will in turn send blessings to him Ten times” [Sahih Muslim]

The more you love a person, the more you want to mention them. Praying Durood Shareef and sending blessings onto the prophet PBUH is classified as an act of worship and it is our way of vocalising our love for him. A believer should be frequent with sending Durood upon the prophet if he wishes to befriend the prophet and have him close as an intercessor on the day of Reckoning. Allah has always instructed us to obey both Allah and his Rasul, to love both Allah and his Rasul and to follow both Allah and his Rasul. Therefore, our sending of Durood to the prophet Muhammad PBUH is most pleasing to Allah.

The exemplification of those who distribute, in the way of Allah, their assets is like a seed which grows seven thorns, in each of its thorn is a hundred grains. Allah multiplies His reward for whom He wills, for Allah is vast and knowing. [Surat Al-Baqarah]

The More the Merrier

We come to know that the prophet Muhammad PBUH had mentioned of his own Durood in which he would pray 100 times a day. With All good deeds, Allah being the most generous and most benevolent will always record more than what we had actually perform. For example, every blessing sent upon the Nabi will entail rewards in our accounts ten times greater. Now on top of that, we have narrations which mention that for every good deed we do Allah will multiply it by 10 to 70 folds or like the above Quran Ayah where it grows in the hundreds. As a result, we find ourselves with very few actions performed but due to the sincerity of it, Allah made it out like you had done a humongous thing.

Once the companion Abu Mas’ud had reported that a man came to the prophet with a bridled camel and said, “This is for the cause of Allah.” The Prophet PBUH said,” You will have for it seven hundred camels on the Day of Resurrection. Each of them shall be bridled.” [Sahih Muslim]

Here the determination was greater as the man brought a camel which was properly reigned and healthy, hence he received a compensation seventy times greater.

Final Words

Lastly our daily recitation of Durood will be a means of deterring us from sinning as when we ourselves remember him, we feel his presence and suddenly we feel shameful to turn towards evil, knowing that this desirable action of mines could cause some friction between me and the Rasul which causes greater separation between me and Allah. This is classified as Taqwa (Piety) of the heart.

This is why in life we should strive in good deeds regardless of our situation, as Allah has made it such that we can keep doing small petty deeds but with hope of immensely big rewards. Pray a simple Allahu Akbar whilst driving to work or send Durood to the Prophet during your daily jog. Raise your hands a little longer after the night prayer and give small amounts to charity.

Inshallah Allah will reward you with barakah in your life and your Rizq (Sustenance). Then see how your life changes, suddenly you have more time, more wealth, etc. then you should pray more Quran and Durood and give more in charity as a sign of gratitude to your lord most high.

Allahumma Salli 'Ala Sayyi-dina Muhammadin Wa 'Ala Ali Sayyi-dina Muhammadin Wa Baarik Wa Sallim
O Allah we are sending salutation on the Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) and his family, and also sending mercy and blessings
