Our Ambassadors

Meet the ambassadors we’re working with to provide a brighter future for orphan children.

Member of the House of Lords of the United Kingdom

Sayeeda Warsi, Baroness Warsi

I am proud to be an Ambassador for KORT.

I have had the privilege of seeing KORT go from strength to strength.

From its leadership team under the guidance of Akhtar bhai to its volunteers, from the inspirational success stories of the KORT children to the vibrancy and laughter of the beneficiaries at the KORT site, everything about the organisation is an example of how charitable work should be done.

The facilities are some of the best in Pakistan and KORT is testament to the principle that third sector work can be delivered in a first class way.

I wish them continued success.

Special Secretary, Interior Government of Pakistan

Dr. Mian Waheed Uddin (PhD)

My visit to KORT in Mirpur was a truly unforgettable experience. I was told that my trip wouldn't be complete without seeing KORT, and it was indeed the highlight. To sum up my experience, I would say, “KORT is a wonder of the world where love and care are in their purest form.”

Since that visit, I've been in awe of the dedicated men and women of the KORT team, led by Ch. Mohammed Akhtar. They devote their time, effort, and resources to the noble cause of caring for children who have no parents, relatives, or worldly resources. Their selfless service to children, the infirm, and the debilitated is truly inspiring.

I now feel a strong urge to join them in their virtuous pursuits. Let's come together with KORT and spread the message of love, care, and kindness towards the less fortunate segments of society.

Support KORT and be a part of this incredible journey of compassion and humanity.

Former Principal, Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Medical College, Mirpur

A. RASHEED MIAN (MBBS, DMJ, FCPS)

Whilst working as Principal at MBBSMC Mirpur, I was invited to a ceremony commemorating the victims of the October 8th, 2005 earthquake, held at the former home of Kashmir Orphan Relief Trust (KORT) in Mirpur. Witnessing children of various ages narrate their poignant stories and describe how KORT gave them a new life was deeply moving.

KORT became a true home for these children, providing them with facilities and care just like our own children receive at home. Under the leadership of Ch. Mohammed Akhtar, whom the children regard as a father figure, KORT offered a nurturing environment.

I personally witnessed the significant moment when KORT transitioned from the city to its purpose-built home for orphans in Jarikas, Mirpur. This new facility stands as a unique example of excellent construction and management, thanks to Ch. Mohammed Akhtar and his tireless team. KORT has achieved great milestones through the vision, courage, expertise, and commitment of Ch. Mohammed Akhtar.

Now, I am proudly part of KORT, which has grown from a local entity in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) to a globally recognized welfare enterprise.

Vice Chancellor, Mirpur University of Science and Technology (MUST)

Prof. Dr. Habib-ur-Rehman, S.I

Kashmir Orphan Relief Trust (KORT) is an example of providing a homely environment to orphans, particularly those who had lost their parents and guardians in the 8th of October 2005 earthquake.

I have been associated with KORT in my personal and official capacity. Mirpur University of Science and Technology (MUST) has also been collaborating with KORT and helping the trust to achieve its objectives further and better.

I urge everyone and institutions to join KORT so that its services are extended to the ‘Set’ orphan children. I as a person and Vice Chancellor of MUST consider Ch. Mohammed Akhtar (founder of KORT) a blessing of Allah (SWT) for humanity and in particular, for the orphans living at KORT.

KORT is not just an orphanage but a home in a true sense. Ch. Mohammed Akhtar has set a rare example of creating a unique second to none facility, sparing his life and resources for the cause.

I would like to request the civil society members, and the Pakistani and Kashmiri diaspora to join Ch. Mohammed Akhtar to accomplish his mission and to make his dreams come true. We, the faculty members, staff and students of MUST will always be there for KORT to provide a brighter future for orphan children. We understand that only life spent for others is worthwhile. And those who make it a purpose of life to help others are loved by Allah. So, let us enjoy the love of Allah (SWT) by following the Sunnah of our beloved prophet Muhammad (SAW).
