Kort Hospital Project
I was born in Sheffield, raised on English streets, but my roots were always somewhere else — in the mountains, villages, and memories of Mirpur.
Growing up, Mirpur was never just a place on a map. It was stories told by my parents after dinner, phone calls to grandparents where the line crackled but the love was clear, and summer visits where strangers called you “beta” before even knowing your name.
As kids born in the UK, we often live between two worlds. In Britain, we build our futures. But in Mirpur, we remember where our story began.
I remember my first real understanding of what life is like there. A relative became seriously ill. Something treatable here in Sheffield — a short ambulance ride, trained staff, modern equipment — became a desperate struggle in Mirpur. The family wasn’t just fighting illness; they were fighting distance, resources, and time.
That moment stayed with me.
Because healthcare should not depend on where you were born.
KORT Mirpur Hospital represents hope — a place built not just with bricks and machines, but with the dua, generosity, and unity of people who never forgot their roots. It stands as proof that even those of us raised thousands of miles away still carry responsibility for the communities that shaped our parents and grandparents.
Many of us work hard here in the UK. We chase careers, raise families, and build comfortable lives. But back home, there are children needing treatment, elders needing care, and families praying for access to the kind of healthcare we sometimes take for granted.
This isn’t charity out of pity.
This is investment in our own people.
This is sadaqah that connects generations.
Every donation is more than money — it is a mother worrying less, a child getting a second chance, a family keeping hope alive.
We may have Sheffield accents, British passports, and lives rooted here — but Mirpur still lives in us.
Today, we have an opportunity to give back to the land that gave our parents their strength and our community its identity.
Let’s come together as a diaspora, as Mirpuris, as Pakistanis, and as human beings — and help build a future where quality healthcare is not a privilege, but a reality.
Because supporting KORT Mirpur Hospital isn’t just helping others.
It’s helping our own story continue.
